Access and Accounts

Users do not access the compute nodes directly, but instead interact with the cluster through interactive Linux nodes – usually one of the Remote Desktop systems. All staff and students of the Department of Aeronautics are allowed to use the cluster for their research or educational activities.

Accounts are used to manage access to resources and prioritise jobs. By default all users have access to the aero-general account, which provides the capability to run CPU tasks. Other accounts are used for specific teaching activities and research groups. These accounts are given higher priority in the queuing system than the aero-general account (which has the lowest priority).

To access another account please ask your module leader (teaching) or supervisor (research) to contact aero.computing@imperial.ac.uk to make the request.
