Introduction

The Department of Aeronautics manages a Linux environment to support computational teaching and research. This service is distinct from the desktop environment provided by the University Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) department, or the service provided by the Research Computing Service (RCS).

A range of software packages and libraries are available on the Linux Environment. Some are provided as system-wide packages, while others are provided through modules which can be loaded through a terminal.

However, some applications are available directly from the applications menu in the Linux Desktop Environment.
