This page provides guidance on changes in computing provision upon leaving the College.

Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught Students

Computing provision is dependent on the conferral date of your degree.

Conferral dates

Conferral of your degree normally happens as follows

Before your Imperial College email address expires, it is recommended to set up an Alumni email address if you wish to continue such as association with the University. You should use a personal email address when submitting job applications to avoid losing important emails. If submitting a publication, it is recommended to use a continuing member of staff as the corresponding author.

Library access can continue after conferral, but you must register for a Library Alumni Account.

Staff

All computing provision will cease on the last day of employment.

Extending accounts

Computing accounts and access to computing provision cannot be extended beyond the durations defined above, unless the user:

  • is a student resitting exams

  • is a student undertaking a UROP

  • is applying to pursue further study at Imperial College

  • is going to be employed by Imperial College

If you need continued access to computing provision at Imperial College (e.g. to complete research which commenced during your degree), beyond the durations defined on this page and you do not meet any of the criteria above, you will need a new association with Imperial College. Please discuss with your supervisor in the first instance about registering as a visiting researcher.

Data

During your time at Imperial College you will have likely have accumulated a significant amount of data. Please do the following before you lose access to your Imperial College computer account:

  • Transfer to your personal device any data you wish to retain from your - OneDrive - Departmental Linux home directory

  • Transfer any data relating to research projects to your supervisor
